18 Weeks Pregnant

So some days, I forget I'm pregnant (and then I remember when I am getting dressed and nothing fits). Recently I've been so busy with work, and then coming home and being Mom to Emma and wife to Matty, that I do forget that I can't do as much as I was able to before I got pregnant. When I am out of breath I think, "what is going on? Why can't I breathe, and why am I out of breath from just rolling over to my other side??" Oh yeah, it's cause I'm pregnant! It's kind of like that with everything. Pretty awesome. Stairs? Yeah, I hate stairs. Good thing I've got about 14 to walk up and down to our house every day. That's awesome too. 

I have been feeling great lately (besides the whole "out of breath" dilemma), and the 2nd trimester has definitely been treating me well so far. I just had a baby check up last week, and the doctor said the baby is growing fine and was able to hear the heartbeat which she said is beating at normal speed (150 times per minute!) I scheduled an ultrasound for June 5th where we will be finding out the sex of our little Thumper. I will be happy with a boy or girl, just as long as the baby is healthy! 

I have been feeling small little flicks of movement, which is always super cool to feel. Last night, I had Matty feel my stomach so that he could feel where my uterus was (I know that sounds weird), and as he put his hand on the right side of my abdomen, we both felt a little kick of movement right where his hand was! I know I had felt it, but I wasn't sure if Matt did, but he got excited and said that he had felt a kick too! It was a really special and cool moment for us. It's like the baby knew that his Daddy's hand was there. 

I know I complain a lot about being pregnant, and how awful it is for me, but these little moments always make me stop and realize how special it is to be pregnant. I recognize I'm carrying a sweet child of God, and I am so grateful that I have been blessed to be a Mommy. 

And don't worry, when we find out what we're having, I'll be blasting it from all my social media sites, I will be so excited! 


My baby is the size of a sweet potato, how sweet!

Emma's Balancing Act

Emma loves to stack, organize, and put things away (love her!), and the other day we noticed her balancing a bottle of Vaseline on top of the baby gate. She was so proud of herself when she put it on top, and it didn't fall off. Oh my gosh, it made us laugh so much! Then we started clapping and told her "Good job, Emma!" and she demanded more clapping after each balancing act. We did as we were instructed, you don't want to mess with a toddler demanding applause! Here is Emma doing her balancing act, she's got some talent!

Lauging With The Hiccups

Emma gets hiccups, all the time. Usually it's right before bedtime, because we've been playing with her and she has been laughing. I know this bugs me more than it does her, but I hate the hiccups, and I hate when she gets them too! She has gotten them ever since she was a baby, and there is nothing worse in this world to me, than hiccups (Ok, maybe a few things, but I won't go into that right now). I won't say that I hate many things, but I do hate the hiccups. 

Yesterday during lunch, Emma did something that made Matt and I laugh so hard. She realized how fun that was, and started "fake" laughing herself. Mouth wide open, full of food, just making herself laugh. Then the hiccups came, because of course she was inhaling all that air, and so she would fake laugh, and then hiccup, and then laugh because she had the hiccups. Matt and I were busting out laughing, which made her keep laughing because of our response. All in all, it was a fun family moment, and I'm so glad we got it on camera. She is one fun little girl. 


p.s. You can see me in this video trying to get her to drink some water to get rid of her hiccups, I just can't stand by and watch her have the hiccups, it drives me nuts!

Phone Calls

Emma has been making a lot of phone calls lately, and it doesn't always have to be a "phone" that she uses to talk on. Lately it's been Dad's sock, Mom's keys, or a small toy that works just the same. She holds it up to her ear, tilts her head, and just starts talking away! She'll pace back and forth while she talks, and sometimes whoever is on the other line says something funny, and she laughs during the call. This has been one of our favorite Emma moments so far, her imagination is growing so fast, and it's so fun to see her play pretend. Here's Emma talking on her play phone, and then playing with her toys as well.

Emma's Language

Emma really does have her own language she speaks, it's like nothing I've ever heard before! It seems as if she believes she is speaking just as normally as we do. It is so cute to listen to her jabber on every day about whatever is on her mind. Usually she chats a lot while looking at her books, and she talks with every turn of the page. I try to get her on camera, but she knows when she's being filmed, and will stop doing whatever cute thing it is she's doing when the camera turns on. This video is a bit long, but I wanted to capture her doing what she always does-- imagining and pretending in her own little world. I have lots more videos that I'll be posting today, I am so far behind on blogging!!
